The planet Mercury will be "in Retrograde" from May 19-June 11 2015.
This is an article written by a friend and colleague of mine, Dawn Silver, who also happens to be my astrologer. She has been dedicated to this work for the past 30 years. So Mercury retrograde, schmercury retrograde…..what is this? Well astrologically Mercury is the planet that represents our minds and all aspects of communications. It governs speaking, documents, negotiations, travel, contracts, mail, telephones and transportation.
When Mercury goes retrograde three times a year for three and a half weeks at a time, we are recommended to be patient with delays, watch our tongues, not sign contracts or buy computers, phones and the likes. So clearly this is not always possible. A good astrologer can pull out the best of timings during the mercury retrograde cycle.
Also a good time to double check were we put things as this is a key time to forget (think… about how we look for the glasses that are sitting on our heads). And if you are in advertising/writing/marketing this is a time when many blunders are made. Check and check again. "Gosh I hope this e-mail will go through without a hitch."
But assuming we are not under the wrath of mean and unjust Gods-Goddesses just what things are in our best interest during the Mercury retrograde period? For me personally I actually look forward to this as a time to clear my plate of the multitude of promises I have made. Rather than making a slew of new commitments I cross many off my promises and procrastinations of my list. Then when Mercury goes direct I can feel free as
birds…unload the guilt!
Also highlighted under this period is to remember things we intended to purchase and
books we have intended to read (or write).

Re-do hair color
Re-write your resume
Review your bank account
Renew a loan
Repair your car
Re-contact past clients
Research Read and re-read contracts. Have someone else look them over, too
When traveling, leave early and allow for extra travel time
Count your belongings, things get lost when Mercury messes us up
Check your travel plans several times
If you need to, ask questions over and over during negotiations
Mail packages and letters early. Check the zip codes
Mail important items so you can track them - registered, certified, return receipt
If you are making purchases, keep your sales receipt and know the store's return policy
Keep your cell phone battery charged
Watch your driving
And…. in matters of the heart, if your boyfriend or girlfriend breaks up with you or says something hurtful, take a wait-and-see attitude. Since Mercury rules speech, they may not mean what you think they are saying now. Let them have some space, and wait to see if they mean the same thing they said during the retro after it is over. Usually they do not. Now is also a good time to dress old wounds, clean up relationships or to simply bury the hatchet. Some people have great breakthroughs in psychotherapy, hypnosis, astrology and other therapies during a Mercury retrograde period.
